Bf.109G-4/R6. W.Nr. 19566 flown by Tenente Giuseppe Gianelli. CO of 365a Squadriglia, 150o Gruppo Aut., Sciacca (Italy), July 1943.

This machine was found and documented by the Allies when Sciacca fell. This aircraft saw much action lasting the entire tour of duty of 150o between May-July 1943. It is also reputed to be the mount often. Fausto Filippi. This G-4/R6 exhibits a fixed tail wheel with external stiffener added to the tail wheel opening. The G-4 introduced larger main wheels and tires as well as a larger tail wheel and tire. A bulge was added to the top of the wings to accommodate the increased main wheel tire size seen on subsequent variants up to early production G-14. Radio equipment was improved necessitating a change in the antenna wire array with the aerial attachment located further astern on panel number 7. This plane is armed with MG 151/20 cannons in R6 gun pods.
