FIAT CR.42 "Falco" CN
Regia Aeronautica – 377ª Squadriglia Autonoma Caccia Notturni, Tenente Luigi Torchio, Palermo-Boccadifalco (Italy), Fall 1942
Based on the earlier FIAT CR.32, which obtained remarkable results during the Spanish War, the CR.42 was made entirely of metal and had a A.47 engine capable of 840hp. 200 aircrafts denominated "Falco" were ordered immediately by the Regia Aeronautica and were used during the initial phases of WWII. It was also very successful, commercially speaking, and was exported to Sweden, Belgium, and Hungary.

FIAT CR.42 "Falco" CN
In February 1943, Luigi Torchio served in the 377a Squadriglia Autonoma. During the night of 21/22 February 1943 he shot down a RAF bomber Wellington over Palermo flying a Fiat CR.42 night fighter.
